When most couples think about wedding photography, they picture the big moments: the first kiss, the walk down the aisle, the dance floor. And those are incredible, no doubt. But there’s another side to your wedding story — one that’s quieter, more intimate, and just as meaningful.
As a wedding photographer, I’m always paying attention to the little things: the handwritten notes, the lace on your dress, the way your grandma gently fixes your veil. These details may seem small in the moment, but years later, they’ll transport you right back.
Here are a few of my favorite wedding details to capture — and why they truly matter.
1. The stationery & invitations
You spent time choosing or designing them, and they set the tone for the entire day. I love photographing invitations, vow booklets, and save-the-dates — styled alongside florals or rings — to create an elegant flat-lay that starts your photo story.
2. The rings
Your rings are more than jewelry — they’re symbols of your commitment. I often photograph them with meaningful backgrounds (your bouquet, your dress, a family heirloom) to create timeless keepsakes.
3. The dress (and the details)
Before it’s worn, the dress deserves its moment. I love capturing it hanging in beautiful light, along with details like beading, lace, or embroidery that might go unnoticed otherwise. It’s also about the emotion of finally stepping into it.
4. Accessories & personal touches
Shoes, earrings, watches, cufflinks, perfume bottles — these small items reflect your personality and your style. When you look back at them later, they remind you of exactly how you felt getting ready.
5. Getting ready vibes
The nervous laughs, the team effort to button the dress, the calming moment before you walk out the door — these are golden. I often stay quiet and document these candidly as they unfold.
6. The flowers
Florals don’t last, but your photos will. Whether it’s the bouquet, ceremony arch, or table settings, I make sure to preserve these creative (and often costly!) details forever in your gallery.
7. The reception decor
When the candles are lit and the tables are perfectly set, I arrive early to capture it all. You won’t get to see it untouched once the party starts — but you’ll see it all again through your photos.
8. Emotional details
A tearful hug from your mom. A knowing look from your dad. Your best friend fixing your dress before you walk down the aisle. These emotional details are the heart of your story — and I make sure they’re never missed.
9. Handwritten vows and notes
A love letter on your wedding morning? A note scribbled onto a napkin? These raw, written words are incredibly intimate and deserve to be remembered visually
Why these moments matter
Weddings fly by. Sometimes the little things fade from memory. But when they’re captured beautifully, they become some of the most powerful parts of your story.
You’ll look back years from now and remember the scent of your perfume, the texture of your dress, and the joy of those quiet moments — because the details hold the emotion.
